Day 1: Vilnius - ARRIVAL
DAY 2: VILNIUS
In the morning a walking tour of 3 hours in the centre of the city.
Vilnius – the capital of Lithuania, surrounded by hills, lying in Sventaragis valley between two rivers – Neris and Vilnele. In 1994 the old town of the city was included in UNESCO’s heritage list. Various architectural styles, triangular squares, flower gardens and different historical periods is what you can see all over the place. You will be surprised by the vibrancy and the beautiful Vilnius panorama with churches and their towers. During the sightseeing tour you will visit Cathedral Square, Castle Street, Russian Orthodox Church of the Holy Spirit, St. Ann and Bernadine’s Church known as the Gothic corner of Vilnius, the Gate of Dawn with the holy image of the Virgin Mary, formerly an important part of the population of Vilnius which belonged to Jewish minority – the Jewish Quarter. En route we will visit the old Vilnius University ensemble that is considered one of the oldest educational centers not only in Lithuania but also in all Baltic countries.
In the evening free time to discover the city on your own.
DAY 3: VILNIUS - TRAKAI - VILNIUS
In the morning after checking-out from the hotel sightseeing tour to one of the most beautiful castles in Europe – Trakai, just 28 km from Vilnius.
Trakai – the old capital of Lithuania, located 28 kilometers From Vilnius. Trakai is situated on a narrow 2 kilometer long peninsula, between three lakes that have many different sized islands. The main attraction and adornment of the place is the Castle of Trakai, which belonged to the most famous ruler of Lithuania – Grand Duke Vytautas. You will reach the castle by walking through the bridge and at the same time enjoying magnificent view – the only castle in Northern Europe built on an island of the lake. During the visit of the castle you will get familiar with castle’s history, its rulers and the rest of the site. Some people think that the castle is from a fairy tale, and at some point they are right. The red brig structure, blue water of lake and the reminding of glory of the past really makes the Lithuanians think that it was more a fantasy, than reality. On the way back to Vilnius we will see typical houses built by the Karaites who once were brought from far Crimean peninsula to Lithuania by Grand Duke Vytautas. Just before leaving Trakai don’t forget to take a picture in fond of the castle, this will be one of the most beautiful picture you ever made!
In the evening transfer to airport.
